Maik Volkmann – Digital Creative Human

Marketing × Product Ownership

Rethink marketing.

Strengthen brands. Move products forward.

I connect digital marketing, product ownership and hands-on delivery. This turns requirements into clear priorities – and ideas into digital experiences people enjoy using.

Words that move digital workChoose a term and open a first thought behind it.

From the first requirement to day-to-day operation.

01 / 05Analysis & positioning

Strategic analysis

Before anything gets built, I assess the situation: where does the brand stand, what does the product deliver, how is the market moving? I combine market and competitor research, product analysis and brand positioning into a clear basis for decisions.

02 / 05Product ownership & UX/UI

Developing websites with purpose

As product owner, I translate requirements from marketing and sales into prioritised work packages and design user and enquiry journeys. Drawing on my design background, I propose UX and UI solutions myself where needed or refine existing interfaces – and coordinate departments and external partners from relaunch to continuous development.

03 / 05Channels & structure

Optimising structure for every channel

Every channel has its own rules – website, social media, newsletter or video platform. I structure content so it reaches its goal in each channel as effectively as possible: reach, engagement, enquiries or revenue such as RPM. This includes clear, filterable structures, suitable formats and metadata, and reviewing and refining based on the numbers.

04 / 05Visibility in AI search

AI and GEO optimisation

Search is moving into AI assistants and generated answers. I structure content so that language models can understand it, place it in context and cite it as a source – with clear answers, structured data and a sound technical base, complementing classic SEO.

AI-assisted content creation

I produce content with the help of AI – copy, images, videos, websites and apps, through to custom widgets or browser extensions. What matters is a personal signature: idea, selection and finishing stay in human hands, so the result never becomes interchangeable AI slop. Depending on the requirements, I work locally, with established cloud models and platforms, or on dedicated server infrastructure with powerful GPUs to use the best-suited models.

Portrait of Maik Volkmann
Random quote:
A thought to begin with …

Hi, I'm Maik Volkmann.

I started out with code – websites and newsletters. Design, layout and image editing followed almost at the same time; I later grounded this in vocational training in marketing communications and deepened it in the International Media and Computing programme. For more than 20 years, I've worked where marketing, web technology and product development meet. I've managed and evolved digital platforms, coordinated projects and delivered much of the work myself – from content and campaigns to design, video and AI-assisted prototypes. That's why I think strategy and delivery together.

Moving the right things forward.

  1. 01

    Understand

Identify goals, users, constraints and dependencies.

  2. 02

    Plan & focus

    Outline impact, effort/benefit and feasibility.

  3. 03

    Deliver

Coordinate teams, review outcomes and evolve solutions in operation.

Workshop

Tool snapshots.

On the side, I build small helpers and tools that support me and my work. Here is a short introduction.

  • Screenshot of the Bookmark Sorter Chrome extension with two pane views
    Chrome extension01

    Bookmark Sorter

Sort bookmarks by drag and drop across two panes, find duplicates and dead links. Runs entirely locally, no account needed.

    Web app · Music02

    MIDI Enhancer

Cleans up MIDI from audio-to-MIDI converters: joins fragments, extends notes that are too short, sets sustain and legato from a chord reference. Runs locally in the browser.

  • Screenshot of the English Ladder learning app: level C2, session formats and an interview dialogue with the AI coach
    Learning app · Speaking03

    English Voice Ladder A1–C2

Start with a level check, then speak instead of cram: in a voice dialogue with an AI coach, interviews, negotiations or free conversation can be practised. An error log, tips and a vocabulary notebook show what to work on next.

Digital. Creative. Human.

Let's start a conversation.

Technology changes the tools. Good collaboration determines what they become.

  • Digital.20 years in web technology and marketing – from hands-on admin work to AI-assisted delivery.
  • Creative.Design as a craft – layout, visuals, video and copy, now extended with AI and digital prototypes.
  • Human.Because in the end it's not the method or the latest tool that decides – it's the people behind it: the shared ground, the story that actually connects.
